Reframing Hong Kong
If you type into Google, ‘images of Hong Kong’, you’ll find multiple pages filled with shots of Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour. But there is so much more to this vibrant city and The Hong Kong Tourism Board wanted visitors to know that. So we called on Hong Kong’s locals to share photographs of their favourite places and the hidden gems that tourists often miss. Since launching Reframing Hong Kong, over 50,000 photos have been submitted by locals, capturing the city in a new light. Then using insights from Google Travel Analytics, these images were transformed into travel itineraries, highlighting the lesser-known spots. Now, these photos are featured across major travel platforms like Cathay Pacific, TripAdvisor, and South China Morning Post, turning local photography into a fresh and authentic face of Hong Kong.
